Cash & Canion - "Has Obama Abandoned Black America?"
The "Great Recession" has ravaged our domestic economy and left many Americans unemployed. Blacks are suffering from even higher rates of increased unemployment and poverty than most ethnic groups. Unemployment amongst all workers is currently an uncomfortable 10%, but for Black workers the numbers are higher - 15.7% in November. Black young men and women are experiencing unemployment rates of 34.5% and 26.5% respectively. The loss of middle-class jobs in construction, retail, and manufacturing is destroying "Black America".
The Congressional Black Caucus called on President Obama to provide more help for African Americans. Specifically, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) suggested to the Administration that more aid is needed for black-owned banks, businesses, and families that cannot afford their mortgages. Obama quickly responded, "I think it's a mistake to start thinking in terms of particular ethnic segments of the United States, rather than to think that we are all in this together and we are all going to get out of this together." Jesse Jackson quickly jabbed the country's first African-American President with harsh criticism. It is worth noting that Obama has not met with Jackson since moving into the White House. Has Obama abandoned Black America?
I commend the President for rising above petty discussions centered on a misguided policy to create or save "black jobs". Candidate Obama did not campaign to become President of Black America. He survived a grueling interview process to become President of the United States, so his policies must be good for all of America. Unfortunately, I believe that Mr. Obama has abandoned all Americans by pursuing a set of policies that are rooted in ideology, abuse the fiscal responsbility that elected leaders have over taxpayer money, and promote the expansion of government during a time of economic distress. Obama's failed stimulus bill have left all Americans feeling uncertain about their jobs, climate legislation will drive up energy costs for consumers and businesses during a time of economic weakness, and ObamaCare will expand the size of government and raise the cost of healthcare for all Americans. Obama has abandoned America.

A few months ago you and I had an email exchange about - and I am summarizing - Obama and whether he would be able to effectively lead. Neither one of us had a feeling either way, but I am pretty sure I was significantly more skeptical than you. It is clear where you have come down on that now, and I couldn't agree more.
I think it is evident now that Obama does not have the experience to effectively lead, primarily because neither he nor his cabinet, with the exception of a very few, have any business or leadership experience. Obama has a short legal career, 1 term in Illinois state government, and less than 1 term as a U.S. senator. How many hard decisions has he ever had to make?
Business and military leaders are ideally equipped to lead a large organization like the U.S. government, which is really nothing but a big business itself. It collects revenue, it has expenditures, upper, middle, and lower management, employees, etc. The central focus of business and military leaders is determining the correct course of action for accomplishing whatever is in the best interests of the organization, and doing whatever it takes - excluding anything unethical or immoral - to get there. Instead, I am afraid that Obama when it comes time to make the tough decisions, Obama is hesitatant. I'm not saying that the President should make snap decisions on important matters, but it took him over 90 days to make a decision on Afghanistan. Really? What kind of strong and decisive leadership is that? What happens when he doesn't have unlimited time to make a decision? Does he have the experience to make the right call? The experience necessary to make the correct decision in a tough situation comes from a career full of having to make hard decisions. You learn from the mistakes you make and mold your decisions accordingly.
I really want Obama to pull off something to salvage our country, because I am afraid we have much bigger problems than just the economy or the wars. I believe that our country fundamentally is in trouble. Social values are nonexistent. Work ethic is low. People aren't willing to accept the fact that even if they work hard, they still aren't entitled to anything more than what they agreed to accept as pay for their work. There is a fundamental lack of personal responsibility at all levels, which is why we got into the mortgage mess which caused the recent economic meltdown. The borrowers, banks, and investors all had dollar signs in their eyes and didn't actually think about what was good for our country. Whatever happened to putting country first? Now the almighty individual comes first.
When it comes time, and I do think that now is the time, I am afraid that neither we the people nor our government will step up and make the correct decisions on the tough problems that we must resolve in order to persevere as a nation.

We agree.... no president should target a race or group for jobs..... While I will not argue with stats produced by CBC I do take exception to calling out the president.....
Instead the CBC should go to work at the jobs they were elected to and in communities. All kids deserve an opportunity ad that should be provided....otherwise it is no more than life support..... All kids deserve a chance from politicians and business leaders...... sitting back and thinking the president did good is great....but what are you Mr. Cash doing? Party politics?

Live long enough and you will see and hear about anything.... A little money can make a man forget......Is going to school on scholarship to play ball socialist in a way....taxpayers footed the bill..... Would someone talk negative about stimulus funds and then apply for them at the King Plaza (probably only applying for the percentage Olympia Snow accounted for)...... If you want to see a hypocrite and a sellout go to the website http://algenoncash.com you can see a picture
Mr. Cash is a smart but selfish-man when it comes to the state of affairs in America..... had he not been gifted and fortunate to have followed after MLK he may have been looking at life through different lenses

Good for you Mr Graves.... I for one is happy that Cash is not on the radio of the people he hates.... I have no doubt that our current president will make mistakes like every other president..... It makes me sick that this parrot spews the party line and does not have a mind of his own..... My friends ignore this "oreo" but I am glad someone finally called him out as a money grabbing fake....
Why don't you run for office so you can fail your interview?
We have children in need of direction, health care in debacle and you Mr. Cash wish to blame the current president for all that is wrong....if that be the case blame you for problems of youth in Greensboro (why not?)If President Obama can be blamed for the country you can take responsibility for one region... Really you are not the blame I am smarter than that.....I just wish you were as smart as you think.....be a part of the solution, not just a parrot....
Norris Graves I do not know you but you said what the silent majority feels
